THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet meeting on Thursday decided to allocate additional seats in 11 districts to solve the seat shortage for plus one class.
30% seats will be increased in government schools in Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. An increase of 20% seats will be allowed in aided schools in these districts and a marginal seat increase of 10% will be approved on the demand of schools. The reforms will be carried out without inviting additional financial liability.
20% marginal increase in seats will be allowed in government and aided higher secondary schools in Kollam, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts. 20% seats will be increased in government and aided higher secondary schools in Ambalapuzha and Cherthala taluks of Alappuzha district. No seat increase will be allowed in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki districts where there exists no trouble related to seat shortage.
77 Higher Secondary batches provisionally allotted in 2022-23 and 4 shifted batches and 97 batches allotted in 2023-24 will continue to function without any change. The additional liability expected is Rs 19.22 crores per annum.
