Yet another student commits suicide in Kozhikode NIT

KOZHIKODE: A student committed suicide at the National Institute of Technology (NIT). The dead is Yogeshwar Nath, a native of Mumbai. He jumped from the seventh floor of the hostel Monday morning at around 6:30. Though he was rushed to the medical college hospital, his life could not be saved.

Yogeshwar was a third-year mechanical engineering student. The NIT authorities also said that he texted home before taking the extreme step. The B.Tech exams ended the other day. Students have committed suicide in NIT earlier also.

The students said the reason for the increase in suicides is academic pressure and not getting adequate counselling.
