CHENNAI: One person was killed after attacked by an elephant. The incident happened at Valparai in Tamil Nadu. The dead is Ravi (52) of Valparai Ayyanppadi Nedungundra Adivasi Colony. The incident happened last night.
The elephant attacked him when he was returning to his colony with his friends on a bike. He died on the spot itself. A friend, who was with him sustained serious injuries. His body is now kept in the mortuary of Valparai government hospital. The body will be handed over to his relatives after post-mortem.
A cameraman had also died in Palakkad in an elephant attack the other day. A V Mukesh (34) was the cameraman of Mathrubhumi News. He died in an unexpected elephant attack while capturing the photos of wild elephants that had entered a residential area.
Mukesh, along with reporter Gokul and driver Manoj, reached the spot at 6 in the morning to collect the news of the elephant entering the fields. PT 5 (Palakkad Tusker Five) and PT 14 (Palakkad Tusker 14) elephants were there. While trying to capture footage of the elephants crossing the Korayar River, one of them turned and attacked him. The group scattered as the elephant rushed towards them.
When the others later searched for Mukesh, they found him trampled by the elephant. Mukesh was seriously injured and was rushed to the Palakkad district hospital but could not be saved. He was a cameraman in Mathrubhumi Delhi Bureau for a long time. He has been in Palakkad Bureau for one year. He is son of late Unni and A Devi. He leaves behind his wife Tisha and sister Haritha.
