KOCHI: The 'Manjummel Boys' said they have no complaints regarding the beating they suffered from the Tamil Nadu police after they entered Guna Caves in 2006 and the drama that unfolded later. "All the policemen of that day might have retired. No further investigation or action is needed," Siju David, who rescued his friend, said.
He further requested not to approach things with prejudice. The Tamil Nadu Home Department had ordered an inquiry into the police action faced by the Manjummel gang.
Chidambaram, the director of the movie 'Manjummel Boys' said that an investigation into the incident is unnecessary. "Gang members entered Guna Cave. The policemen who came during the election were on duty that day. The police cannot be blamed," Chidambaram said.
At the same time, the court held the arrest of actor Soubin Shahir and Shawn Antony, the producers of Manjummal Boys' movie till May 22. According to the order of Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court, the police had earlier registered a case against Shawn Anthony, Soubin Shahir and Babu Shahir. The case is under the sections of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and forgery.
The court's order came in a plea filed by Siraj Valiyathara Hameed, a resident of Aroor, who allegedly spent Rs 7 crores for the production of Manjummel Boys. According to the complainant, the producers had promised a 40 per cent profit share but didn't pay a profit share or return the investment.
In addition, the plea claims that the producers of the film have acquired another Rs. 20 crores by giving OTT platform rates. On the plea, the court sent a notice to the producers of the film, Soubin Shahir and Babu Shahir and a case was registered after that.
