16 injured in KSRTC bus-lorry collision in Thrissur; drivers in critical condition

THRISSUR: 16 people were injured when a KSRTC bus and a lorry collided at Kurukkanpara in Kunnamkulam Friday morning at 4 am. The accident happened when the bus proceeding to Guruvayur from Kottarakkara collided with the lorry carrying sand for road works.

It was raining heavily in the area at the time of the accident. Rescue operations were carried out by the locals, the police and the fire force who came to know about the accident. The front of the lorry has been completely destroyed. After an hour-long rescue operation, the driver was pulled out after breaking open the lorry.

The injured were admitted to various hospitals. Reports said the injuries of both drivers of the vehicles are serious. The two were shifted to Thrissur Medical College.
