Child rights commission intervenes, engagement called off, youth chops off 16-year-old girl’s head

BENGALARU: A youth beheaded a 16-year-old girl at Madikeri in Karnataka. The 32-year-old youth murdered the girl after the child rights commission stopped the engagement between the two. The police have started a search for the absconding accused identified as Prakash.

The engagement between the girl, who cleared her Class 10 Exams and Prakash, was to be held yesterday at Surlabbi village in Madikeri. However, the child rights commission came to know about it and asked both the families to stop the function as the girl was a minor. With this, the engagement was called off.

The families agreed to cancel the function and postpone the marriage till she turns 18. After some hours, Prakash barged into her house and attacked her parents. He later dragged the girl out of her house and beheaded her. He then fled from the spot with the chopped head of the girl.
