KOCHI: A bedridden senile man from Tripunithura was shifted to Taluk Hospital after he was found abandoned by his son and family. Ajith and his family, who were living on rent in Eroor in a rented house abandoned his father Shanmugham (70) after getting into a feud with the house owner over rent. Following the dispute, Ajith and his family left the house with all the goods but cruelly left behind his bedridden father in the solitary confines of the house.

It is reported that Shanmugham had to survive two days without food or water. Earlier, there were complaints about Ajith not taking proper care of his father. It was only ten months back that the family started living in the rented house. The police tried to contact Ajith but to no avail. The house owner had once complained to the police after Ajith failed to pay the rent for several months.

Meanwhile, the house owner said he was not informed about vacating the house. Ajith had told locals that his sisters would come and take care of the father. Tripunithura police said that a case will be registered voluntarily in the incident. The district collector has also asked for a report on the incident.
