53-year-old Man suffers sunburn in Nilambur; burn blisters appear on body

MALAPPURAM: A fifty-three-year-old man suffered sunburn while travelling to Nilambur on Friday. Suresh, a native of Mayanthani was the victim of the torpid heat. he suffered burns on his chest and abdomen. Blisters have also appeared on the burnt areas. The incident took place when Suresh was travelling from Mampad to Nilambur.

While on the journey, Suresh felt little pain throughout his body but he ignored it. While washing his body after reaching home, the pain increased and the injuries came to notice. After this, blisters started appearing on the stomach and the neck. This made Suresh approach Nilambur District Hospital for treatment. The hospital provided him with an ointment but it proved to be of little help.

Recently, an 11-year-old boy got sunburned while playing in the yard. Aflal Ibn Yunus (11), son of Yunus and Zeenat couple from Punalur, got burns near his left eye and neck. The boy was admitted to Punalur Govt Taluk Hospital after he felt swelling and burning near his eyes and neck.

Punalur and nearby areas have been experiencing extreme heat for the past two months. Although it has rained for three days, the excruciating heat continues unabated.
