Noted theatre artist M C Kattappana passes away

IDUKKI: Noted theater actor M C Kattappana passed away. He was 75. He died following old age ailments. Though his real name is M C Chacko, he was popularly known as M C Kattappana. He has acted in more than 30 professional plays staged in 7000 venues.

He first acted in Punyatheertham Thedi, a professional drama of Deshabhimani Theatres in Attingal in 1977 . Apart from dramas, he has acted in films and serials. His notable films include 'Kazcha', 'Palunku' and 'Nayakan'.

In 2007, he won the state government’s award for best actor for his performance in Kollam Arena's play ‘Arum Kothikkunna Mannu'. He received the Abhinayasree Award of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy in 2014. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10 am at St George Forane Church Cemetery in Kattappana.
