'Lead a simple life, help poor people'; PM Modi gets emotional, recalls mother's advice

LUCKNOW: Prime Minister Narendra Modi before filing his nomination from Varanasi turned emotional while heaping praise on the holy city.

“Holy Ganga adopted me as her son and the love of the people here has truly made me a Benarasi” PM Modi talked to the media before filing his nomination paper for the upcoming LS polls.

PM MODI:

“When I see the love of the people, I realize that my responsibility is increasing every day. When I came to visit my mother during her 100th birthday, she gave me valuable advice which I vowed to continue throughout my life. She told me never to take bribes and also asked me to help the poor people in society. It was her advice to make intelligent decisions and live a simple life.”

Modi is contesting Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi for the third time since 2014. Modi won 56.37 per cent of the votes in 2014 and 63.62 per cent in 2019.
