With this, ended the 25 years of CPM’s rule. Rajendra Kumar was at loggerheads with the party for a long time as part of factionalism in Kuttanad. More than 200 people have recently left the CPM and joined the CPI. However, the CPM district leadership said the no-confidence was brought not with the knowledge of the party.
CPI workers welcomed Rajendra Kumar, who resigned from the post of president, was welcomed with a red garland. He said the weak will do anything and will go forward with a positive attitude to strengthen the CPI.
CPI district secretary T J Angelos said people will assess the opportunistic approach of the CPM leadership. He also pointed that the no-confidence motion against the Ramankary panchayat president was passed jointly by the Congress and the CPM and it was due to the efforts of the district leaders of both the parties. T J Angelos alleged that the CPM district leadership, which gives whips to panchayat members even for panchayat standing committee elections, did not give whips in Ramankary as part of this collusion.
