Woman, who tossed baby’s body from flat, lodges complaint against male friend

KOCHI: The woman, who killed her newborn baby after throwing from her flat, has now lodged a complaint against her male friend for sexually abusing her on the pretext of marriage. The Ernakulam North Police have registered a case against Shafeeq of Thrissur, on the complaint of the woman from Panampilly.

The complaint is that Shafeeq abused her on the pretext of marriage. As she was sexually abused in Trippunithura, the case will be shifted to Hill Palace Police Station. Soon after her delivery on May 3, she smothered the baby to death and then tossed the body from her flat. The woman arrested has been remanded. The body of the baby, whose umbilical cord was not even cut, was first seen by the cleaning workers.

The police conducted an investigation centering on the cover in which the baby was wrapped. The police reached the fifth floor of the flat after checking the address on the envelope where things were purchased from Amazon. Only then her parents came to know about the incident. More information was obtained after questioning her. The woman testified that she smothered her baby to death. She then said that she wrapped the baby in the cover and then tossed the baby from the flat.

The investigating team has presently decided to file a case against her male friend only if the mother's statement contradicts it. She filed a complaint against Shafeeq and the police registered a case after she recovered her health.
