POCSO accused who arrived from Sharjah escapes while being transported to Pathanamthitta

PATHANAMTHITTA: A POCSO accused who was taken into custody after a lookout notice was issued has escaped. Sachin Ravi, a resident of Vadasserikkara and the accused in a case registered by the Pathanamthitta Cyber Police fled custody. The accused was initially arrested at Delhi airport. According to the police, the accused escaped by getting off the bus at Kaveripattanam in Tamil Nadu while being transported from Delhi. Sachin had reached Delhi from Sharjah.

Balamurukan (36), a native of Alankulam, Tamil Nadu who was brought to Viyyur High Security Jail in a police van, also escaped. On Friday night, when he was brought to the jail yard and the handcuffs were untied, he overpowered the Tamil Nadu police officers who were with him.

It is reported that he stole a Pulsar bike which was parked with the key in the backyard of Sarath, a native of Viyyur, and fled to Tamil Nadu. Sarath said that the bike had enough petrol to go more than 100 km. Sarath has lodged a complaint with the Viyyur police in this regard.

The incident took place when Balamurukan, accused in 53 cases including five murders was being brought back to the Periya court in Tamil Nadu. A police team including an SI was present. Balamurukan was dressed in a banyan and mundu. He was arrested in Marayur last September and has evaded the police before.
