'Do not operate inverter, do not light gas stove'; Warning to people after tanker lorry accident in Mangalapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A cooking gas tanker overturned at Kazhakootam Mangalapuram due to heavy rains. The tanker overturned in heavy rain at around 4 am today. The tanker overturned after the tyre sank into the ground due to heavy rain. The police issued a warning to the local residents after the accident. Police advised not to run inverters or light gas stoves.

The tanker overturned after straying onto the service road due to the construction of the Kazhakkoottam-Attingal National Highway. The lorry was going from Kochi to Tirunelveli with cooking gas. The driver, Etikon (65), a resident of Namakkal escaped unhurt in the accident.

Cooking gas was transferred from the tanker to other lorries. Following the accident, traffic on the national highway from Pallipuram CRPF to Mangalapuram was suspended. Vehicles were diverted through other routes.
