KOCHI: The High Court has decided not to arrest dancer Sathyabhama for the time being in the caste abuse case against RLV Ramakrishnan. It is suggested that Sathyabhama should not be arrested until the 27th of this month when the case will be considered. Justice K Babu also directed the government to submit a reply to the demand to stop the arrest.
The Nedumangad Sessions Court had already rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by Sathyabhama. Following this, she approached the High Court. Advocate BA Aloor argued that Sathyabhama did not name anyone and therefore the complaint cannot stand. The Sessions Court granted bail to the second and third accused in connection with the YouTube channel that aired the controversial interview.
The advocate argued that the police are after his client. She was sitting and talking in a private place. It was circulated by the second and third accused. They were granted bail. But his client was denied bail. Some politicians are colluding to demand the arrest of Sathyabhama. Therefore, Aloor argued that Sathyabhama should be protected from arrest. But the court clarified that it can go into the details of the case during the hearing.
Sathyabhama said in an interview that the person who should always play Mohiniyattam should be 'mohini'; if it is men who play Mohiniyattam, they should be handsome men. There are some people who are the color of a crow and are not suitable for Mohiniyattam. It was after this that Ramakrishnan came forward and clarified that Satyabhama's accusation was against him.
Despite the controversy, Sathyabhama refused to withdraw the allegation. Beauty is essential to play Mohiniyattam. Color is important in beauty. If not, has any dark-skinned child won first place in a beauty pageant? Sathyabhama's response was that she would stick to her opinion no matter who came.
