THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Meteorological Center has said that there is a possibility of heavy rain from Thiruvananthapuram to Malappuram for the next three days. This is the result of the formation of a cyclonic circulation over southern Tamil Nadu and a low-pressure area over northern Karnataka. Low pressure may form in the Bay of Bengal by Friday. Later it will turn into an extreme low pressure. With this, the summer rains are likely to continue until the monsoon arrives on the 31st.

A housewife died yesterday when the wall of her house collapsed in Pothencode in Thiruvananthapuram and a four-year-old boy fell into a pond in Idukki. The body of Govindan (63), a native of Peringath, who went missing the previous day after going fishing in Pathanamthitta Pallikkalar, was found yesterday. The previous day, a Kozhikode student died of shock. With this, the death toll from the rain has risen to four. Naresh (25), a native of Bihar, who went missing in the current at Manimalayar on Monday has not been found.

Vijayakumaran Nair's wife, Sreekala (61), died after the rain-soaked wall fell down. Dheerv, the four-year-old son of Mundattuchunda natives Vaishnav and Shalu, died after falling into a private pond that was overflowing with water during the monsoon.

Due to the possibility of landslides, extreme caution is advised in the hilly areas. Athirappilly and Vazhachal tourist spots have been closed. Trekking is also banned.
