Six districts likely to receive heavy rains in coming hours; rough seas predicted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite the state being drenched in the recent downpours, the IMD predicted more rain in the coming days across various districts of Kerala. The Indian Meteorological Department has thus issued a yellow alert in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam.

The next three hours will witness light to moderate rains with thundershowers in the state. Moderate rains will also fall in isolated places of Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kannur districts. IMD has also predicted moderate rain at isolated places in Kozhikode district and light rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Malappuram and Kasaragod districts.

From today till May 28, there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Kerala and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour, the Central Meteorological Department stated.

Meanwhile, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has said that there is a possibility of a high wave of 2.9 to 3.1 meters along the coast of South Tamil Nadu (Colachel to Kilakarai) till 11:30 tonight accompanied by a storm.
