North Korea to launch spy satellite, potential leak of critical international information

SEOUL: It is reported that North Korea may launch a second spy satellite on the 4th of next month. Japan media reported that the launch window for the satellite launch began on Sunday night. According to the report, North Korea has declared three locations near the Korean peninsula and the Philippine island of Luzon as danger zones where the remnants of the rocket may fall.

However, the US, Japan and South Korea have agreed to ask Kim Jong-un to abandon the satellite launch program as the launch of a satellite using ballistic missile technology violates UN rules. North Korea successfully launched its first spy satellite in November 2023. Even then, countries including the US came forward alleging that the project was in violation of UN regulations.

After that, Pyongyang is going ahead with the second satellite project. Pyongyang says the satellite launch is to monitor the US presence in the region. They also claim that the satellite captured images of strategic areas such as the White House and the Pentagon.

Seoul fears that Pyongyang will receive critical information from North Korea's main enemy, South Korean regions, through satellites and this will pose a security threat. South Korea responded that it is monitoring the satellite launch. Seoul also accuses North Korea of receiving Russian aid for its satellite program. North Korea is reportedly planning to launch three satellites in 2024.

North Korea's recent ban on red lipstick was big news. Red lipstick was banned because it was seen as a symbol of capitalism. In North Korea, women are banned from wearing heavy make-up. Women look over-made-up when they wear red lipstick. That is also a reason for the ban.

Not only for red lipstick, Kim Jong-un's regime recently banned skinny and blue jeans, body fits and certain hairstyles. Only hairstyles approved in the country are allowed. Harsh measures are taken against other hairstylists.

Also, strict action is being taken against those who wear banned skinny jeans. Punishment methods include imposition of fines, public suspension and punishment.
