Injured by nail of pet dog, did not seek treatment; homeo doctor dies of rabies in Palakkad

PALAKKAD: In a tragic incident, a homeo doctor died of rabies in Palakkad. The incident took place in Kumaramputhoor in Mannarkkad, Palakkad. The deceased has been identified as Ramlath (42), the wife of Kumaramputhoor native Usman.

Two months ago, Ramlath was injured by the nail of her pet dog. However, she did not seek treatment for the wound as it was caused by her pet dog. After a few days, the dog died. Ramlath felt unwell on Sunday. Following this, she was admitted to Thrissur Medical College.

Ramlath, who was put under observation, returned home with her husband Usman on Monday morning without obtaining permission from the Medical College authorities. However, she again fell unwell after some time. She died in the afternoon. Health Department authorities reached the spot after learning about the news of her death. All those who closely interacted with Ramlat have been asked to take the vaccination.
