Scooter crashes into Taurus truck; father dies, son injured

THRISSUR: A man was killed and his son was injured after a scooter crashed into the back of a Taurus truck. The incident took place in Irinjalakuda in Thrissur. The deceased has been identified as Mapranam native Shaiju (43). He is the brother of Irinjalakuda municipality councillor Baiju Kuttikadan.

The accident took place on Sunday night. According to sources, the scooter in which Shaiju and his son were travelling rammed into the back of the Taurus truck which was parked near Mapranam junction. Although Shaiju was immediately rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved.

Shaiju's son Edwin Antony is undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Thrissur. Shaiju's funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at Mapranam Holy Cross Pilgrimage Shrine.
