THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department on Monday warned about the monsoon arriving in Kerala by the 31st of this month, which will also see the end of the summer rains. The department also revised its earlier report that said the state would be bereft of any rains for the next three days. A yellow alert has been declared in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Thrissur and Kollam districts have been warned of rain on 29th and 30th. Also, there is a rain warning for Idukki on the 31st. The nature of the warning may also change if the rain gets intense. The summer rains in the state are getting stronger under the influence of cyclones.

The rain arriving on the 31st of May will be the strongest the state has witnessed in recent years. States including Kerala will receive heavier than normal rainfall in June. India may receive 106 per cent rainfall from June to September. North India will get 92 to 108 per cent rainfall.
