WAYANAD: The family of a Malayali housewife, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Kuwait, has demanded a probe into the death. Ajitha Vijayan (50), the wife of Kakkavayal native Vijayan, was found hanging under mysterious circumstances in the house where she worked. Ajitha's family has lodged a complaint with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stating that they suspect that Ajitha might have been murdered by the house owner or her family members.
Days before her death, Ajitha had reportedly told her relative and friend that she was not receiving proper food at the house where she worked. She also said that her employer, a woman, had brutally assaulted her at the house. Ajitha had kept her family in the dark about the situation as she didn't want them to worry. The family received information about her death on May 19.
The family members said that Ajitha, who went abroad to protect her family from financial hardships, is not likely to commit suicide. In the petition handed over to the Chief Minister, the family stated that it had not yet received the belongings of Ajitha.
Ajitha went to Sulaibiya six months ago to settle her family's financial obligations. In April, the agency in Ernakulam informed that there were some issues and disputes with the sponsor. Later, Ajitha was shifted to another house for domestic help. There was only one woman in this house. Ajitha suffered torture while working at this house.
