NEW DELHI: Zomato, India’s highly rated food delivery app has now come up with a request to customers, mostly to people in North India. The food delivery app has requested people to avoid ordering during peak afternoon hours unless it is necessary. This comes in the wake of the sweltering heat that has encircled the northern belt of India and even in some parts of South India.

The new demand from Zomato is also keeping in mind the safety of their employees. The demand from the food delivery app has hitherto garnered mixed reactions from netizens.

This year, the number of heat wave deaths in India reached 56, according to a new estimate by the Ministry of Health. 46 people died in May alone. Most of the deaths (14) occurred in Madhya Pradesh. There were 11 deaths in Maharashtra and five in Andhra Pradesh. According to figures collected by the National Center for Disease Control, 19,189 people sought treatment in May due to the heat wave.

However, the figures released do not mention the recent deaths in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reviewed the extreme heat situation including in North India and the measures taken to solve the hardships of the people.
