Will dry days be scrapped in state? Minister MB Rajesh clarifies

mb-rajesh

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister MB Rajesh has responded to the news that dry days will be scrapped in the state. The minister said that this government has not yet scrapped dry days and there has been no discussion about it.

"Turnover tax evasion of Rs 3.05 crore was found in March alone. When the amnesty scheme for one-time settlement with waiver was announced for all others with tax arrears in the last budget, this government announced that there would be no one-time settlement with waiver for bar owners alone. Such an announcement can be made only by a government with extraordinary courage. Confiscation proceedings were also taken against defaulters. GST registration of 16 bars that did not pay the tax was revoked. The operating hours of the bars were reduced from 12 and half hours to 12 hours," the minister said.
