Rains likely over all districts, siren to be heard in eight places in capital city

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The central meteorological department has informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in all the districts of Kerala in the next three hours.

The National Center for Oceanographic Studies (INCOIS) has also issued a warning that there is a possibility of Kallakadal phenomenon and high waves along Kerala and Tamil Nadu coasts till 11.30 pm tomorrow.

Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas should exercise special caution. Trips to the beach and activities in the sea should be completely avoided.


Sirens will be heard at eight places in Thiruvananthapuram
The operational trial of the warning sirens under the control of the State Disaster Management Authority will be held today. As part of the KaWaCHaM project under the Disaster Management Authority, the operational testing of 85 sirens installed at the state level will be held today. As part of this, sirens installed at eight places in Thiruvananthapuram district will sound at various times from morning.

Sirens are mounted atop Govt HS Karikkakom, Govt VHSS Kallara, Govt UPS, Kizhuvilam, Govt UPS Vellarada, Govt HSS Kattakada, Govt VHSS Poovar, Mini Auditorium, Pozhiyoor and Govt HSS Vithura, as part of the trial. The State Disaster Management Authority informed people not to panic hearing the sounds as it is just part of the trial.
