Expats going home for Bakrid alerted; New ban at Dubai International Airport

ABU DHABI: The Dubai International Airport has introduced new restrictions as part of Bakrid. Officials said that only passengers will be allowed inside the airport during peak time when a heavy rush is witnessed. A four-day holiday has been announced in the UAE from June 15 to 18 for Bakrid. Following this, a lot of people including Malayali expatriates, are going for vacation and the Dubai International Airport is experiencing a heavy rush.


The authorities have asked travelers to bid goodbyes at home and only the passengers will be allowed to enter the airport. The officials said access to terminals one and three is restricted to public transport and authorized airport vehicles only.


Two weeks after the Bakrid holiday, summer vacation begins in the UAE. Schools will be closed as part of this. The airport authorities said that the number of passengers will also increase with this. The officials of Dubai International Airport have revealed that 3.7 million passengers are expected from June 12 to 25. 2,64,000 people are expected daily. Officials clarified that 2,87,000 passengers are expected on June 22 and this day will be the busiest day. Officials also advised passengers to reach the airport early to complete the procedures to avoid rush.
