Chandrababu Naidu sworn in as Andhra Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan Deputy Chief Minister

KRISHNA: Chandrababu Naidu has been sworn in as the 18th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Naidu was sworn in as the chief minister at a grand ceremony at the Kesarapalli IT Park near the Gannavaram airport in Krishna district. Telugu superstar and Jana Sena Party President Pawan Kalyan was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister. Governor S. Abdul Nasser administered the oath.

24 ministers including Chandrababu Naidu's son and Telugu Desam Party General Secretary Nara Lokesh, TDP Andhra Unit Chief K. Atchannaidu and Jana Sena Party Political Affairs Chairman Nadendla Manohar were sworn in.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and other Union Ministers attended the function as guests. Former Supreme Court Chief Justice NV Ramana, superstars Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi were also present on the occasion. This is the fourth time that Chandrababu Naidu has become the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and for the second time after the formation of Telangana.

Chandrababu Naidu, who became the Chief Minister for the first time in 1995, remained in that position till 2004. He became the Chief Minister of Andhra in 2014 when Andhra and Telangana were bifurcated. Naidu was elected as the assembly party leader in a special meeting of Telugu Desam Party and NDA constituents on Tuesday. 21 TDP MLAs, three from Jana Sena Party and one from BJP were elected to ministerial posts. Naidu has won 164 seats in the 175-member Andhra Legislative Assembly with an absolute majority this time. NDA won 21 out of 25 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
