One held for attacking SI during vehicle inspection 

PALAKKAD: A grade sub inspector was knocked down during a vehicle inspection in Thrithala. Sub inspector Shashi of Thrithala station was knocked down by a vehicle. Abhilash of Njangattiri and the owner of the vehicle has been taken into custody. His son Alan was in the driver’s seat. He is absconding. The cop injured has been hospitalized. Reports said that he is out of danger.

The incident happened when Shashi and his team, who were on for a regular inspection at night, saw a vehicle lying suspiciously in Paruthurmangalam and came near to examine it. Seeing the police, they tried to escape. Shashi was knocked down when he showed his hand. The vehicle was taken into custody after an investigation was conducted focusing on the CCTV footage. Thrithala circle inspector said the vehicle deliberately ran over the grade sub inspector. The CI said the vehicle was seen in a mysterious condition and there were only two people inside.

A case has been filed against both of them under charges including murder attempt and for obstructing work. The police said a strong search has been launched for the accused absconding and Alan's phone is switched off. It is not clear why they came to Paruthurmangalam. The police said that it will be clear only if Alan is caught.
