THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam in the next three hours and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 km per hour. Cyclonic circulation is located over the central western Bay of Bengal and Andhra coast. Another cyclonic circulation is located above Rayalaseema. Strong winds are also likely over Kerala coast and west/southwest coast on June 21 and 22. As a result, there is a possibility of widespread rain over Kerala on June 21 and 22 and heavy rain at isolated places from June 18 to 20. Meantime, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has warned that there is a possibility of rough seas and high waves along the Tamil Nadu coast till 11.30 pm tomorrow.

As rough seas are likely to intensify, it is advised to stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities and keep fishing vessels safely tied up in the harbor. Tourists should avoid trips to the beach and activities in the sea.
