Venugopan, director of ‘Sharja to Sharja’ dies at 67

ALAPPUZHA: Noted film director Ramat Venugopan of Cherthala Kadakkarappally seventh ward, died here Friday morning. He was 67. He had assisted director P Padmarajan for 10 years. His first film was Kusruthi Kuruppu released in 1995 with Jayaram in the lead role.

He had worked with Padmarajan for Njan Gandarvan, Nombarathipoovu etc.

Sharja to Sharja, Choonda, Swarnam, Reporter, Sarvopari Palakkaran are some of his best films.

He leaves behind his wife Latha Venu, children Lakshmi (NISH, Thiruvananthapuram, Vishnu Gopan (engineer in FISCHER) and son-in-law Raveesh. He will be cremated in the premises of his house at 8.30 pm today.
