KOTTAYAM: 20 people were injured when a tourist bus overturned on the Pala-Thodupuzha road. The bus of Suraj Travels, which was coming from Bangalore to Thiruvalla, met with an accident. The accident took place around 12:20 pm today at Pala Kurinji Kuzhuveli bend. Three people including the driver were injured. The overturned private bus was running the Bengaluru-Thiruvalla interstate service.

The injured were shifted to various hospitals in Thodupuzha. The rescue operation was carried out under the leadership of the police and fire brigade. There were 26 passengers on the bus. Locals say that accidents are common here as the area is steep and has sharp bends. The bus coming down the bend lost control in the rain and overturned. There was a fifty-foot-deep pit nearby. A major disaster was avoided when the overturned bus hit the crash barrier on the road and stopped.

Meanwhile, a Goods Auto, which had come to fill fuel at the petrol station, caught fire in Kozhikode. The pump worker came running and extinguished the fire. The incident took place at the KCK petrol pump in Mukkam North Karassery, Kozhikode. Mujahid, a petrol pump employee, used the fire extinguisher in time and avoided a major disaster. The footage of the incident has been released. In the video footage, flames can be seen from the underside of the auto which had stopped for refuelling. The driver can also be seen panicking after seeing this. However, the youth immediately extinguished the fire with an extinguisher.
