Youth dies after falling into drain in heavy rain

KANNUR: A youth died after falling into a drain in the heavy rains that battered Thalassery. The incident happened at Manjodi Kannichira. The dead is Renjith Kumar, a security employee of a private firm. He fell into the drain which had no slab.

The accident happened Monday morning at 8 am. Initial reports said that he may have accidentally slipped into the drain. The body was taken out by the fire force from Thalassery. It is suspected that he may have fell on his way to the workplace. His body has been shifted to Thalassery General Hospital.

There is no place to call it a road in the busy road. People can walk here safely only if the drain is covered with slabs. A similar accident has happened in the area before.
