Kerala brace for heavy downpour, yellow alert declared in nine districts on June 28

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Owing to heavy rains, orange alert has been sounded in Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts due to heavy rains in the state. Earlier, orange alert was declared only in Kannur and Wayanad districts. Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode are on yellow alert today. A yellow alert is sounded in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Fishermen are also restricted from going to sea.

Today is a holiday for educational institutions in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Wayanad and Alappuzha districts. However, there is no change in the conduct of exams. There was widespread damage and deaths due to rain on Wednesday. The monsoon rains are forecast to continue for three more days. In Kannur and Kasaragod, special vigilance has been advised in coastal areas. Restrictions have been imposed on many tourist destinations.

1. As the rough seas are likely to intensify, follow the instructions of the authorities and stay away from danger areas.

2. Keep fishing vessels (boats, boats, etc.) safely moored in the harbour. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the risk of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.

3. Avoid trips to the beach and activities at sea completely.
