Accident while bathing; Two children drowned to death

KANNUR: Two students drowned while bathing in a pond. The incident took place at 1 o'clock in the afternoon at Echur Macheri in Kannur. The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Misbal Amin (10) and Adil bin Muhammad (13).

The accident occurred while taking a bath in a private pond near the Muthappan temple in Macheri. Three children came to the pond. Two of them would go down to bathe and one would sit on the shore. When the two children drowned, the boy who was on the shore informed the locals but could not save the lives of the two children. After being informed by the locals, the fire brigade arrived, but both died when they were taken out of the pond. The bodies were shifted to the district hospital.
