KOZHIKODE: A massive fire broke out in Muthalakkulam in Kozhikode city on Friday morning. The fire broke out at a tea shop near the TBS shopping complex in Muthalakkulam. The fire then spread to three nearby shops. Two shops were completely gutted. One person, who sustained injury in the fire, was rushed to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

People noticed the fire after hearing a loud explosion from the shop. According to the preliminary findings, a gas cylinder explosion was the cause of the accident. The Fire Force and police immediately reached the spot and extinguished the fire.

Two months ago, a fire had broken out in the car workshop on Gandhi Road in Vellayil in Kozhikode. It was in a residential area. According to sources, the fire broke out in the morning and then spread to a nearby coconut grove.

Locals alleged that the fire force officials reached the spot half an hour after contacting them. A major disaster was averted as very few employees were present at the workshop during the time of the accident. However, several cars were damaged in the fire.
