Autorickshaw driver in Malappuram swings machete after bus driver honked to overtake it

MALA: After a bus honked horn to indicate an autorickshaw driver to give space in order to overtake it, the autorickshaw driver swung a machete from inside the three wheeler during its journey on the national highway from Kottapuram to Airport Junction. The bus employees have lodged a complaint with the Kondotty police following the incident that took place at 6.30 am on Friday. The said bus was going from Kozhikode to Manjeri. A video of the same has surfaced on the internet.

When the bus stopped at Pulikal, two women, including an elderly woman, were about to get off. They exited the bus slowly. Meanwhile, an autorickshaw was honking from behind. But in that situation the bus could not move forward immediately. The auto rickshaw overtook the bus and then drove in such a way as to obstruct the bus. The bus driver honked his horn after he did not gave space for overtaking. After this, the autorickshaw driver took out a macheted and swung it.

This continued from Thalekkara to Kolathur Airport Road Junction. After that, the autorickshaw driver went to the Airport Road. The bus continued its journey after reaching the aid post in Kondotty and complaining to the police, said the bus staff. The employees gave a detailed statement to the police today. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
