'Is one joining AMMA to look after the elderly? Actor did not recall the benefits his father received

Idavela Babu had recently stepped down from the post of general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). After leading the organization for 25 years, Babu took a break and handed over the post to Siddique.

Mammootty and others had already said that there is no organization without Idavela Babu. In an interview given to a media, Babu revealed some incidents that happened when he was in the post of general secretary.

He said that his problems were his worries because he loved ‘AMMA’ more than him. He openly said the actions of some young actors have hurt him. 'An actor, son of leading actor. Father has accepted insurance, assistance and Kaineettam from the organization. Why are we joining AMMA, is it to look after some elderly people, he said while sitting on the sets. There are many such incidents. The new generation don’t value the old stars. However, we know what they are,’ clarified Idavela Babu.

Idavela Babu had earlier said that when some surrounded and attacked him on social media, none from AMMA supported him. ‘Sat in the post of general secretary for everyone and not for his own happiness. He was attacked severely on the social media. Stars who stood with him kept mum. No help was received from them. Others should have spoken for the person holding this post. The new governing body should not have such bad experiences,’ he said while addressing members before leaving the post.
