Kerala braces for heavy rain on Sunday; IMD issues yellow alert

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department warned about heavy rains in the state on Sunday. Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts are likely to get light to moderate rain with thundershowers in the next three hours.

IMD has also issued a yellow alert warning for several districts in Kerala.

07-07-2024: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

08-07-2024: Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has informed the possibility of ‘Kallakadal’ phenomenon on the Kerala and Tamil Nadu coast till 11:30 pm on Monday.

  • As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from dangerous areas as per the instructions of the authorities.

  • Keep fishing vessels (boats, boats, etc.) safely moored in the harbour. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the possibility of collision. The safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.

  • Avoid leisure activities at sea.
