KOCHI: A former student of Kalady Sree Sankara College was taken into custody for posting images of female students on an adult Facebook group. Kalady police registered a case against Rohit, a former student and SFI leader of the college. The case was registered based on a complaint from one graduate student of the college.
It is doubted that Rohit shared explicit images of 20 students in pornographic groups on various social media. The police recovered Rohit's phones and a case has been registered against the accused under Section 119B of the Kerala Police Act. Rohit has been released on station bail while the investigation is underway.
According to the complainant, Rohit was an active member of SFI and stayed near the college. Even after passing out from the college, Rohit, a passionate photographer, visited the college during special functions. He had a good camaraderie with many of the female students in the college. The friendship soon helped Rohit get access to the social media accounts of female students. From here, Rohit used to download the photos uploaded by the students and then share the same in adult groups with sexually explicit captions. Female students from college and also students from SFI are reported to be victims of the crime.
Meanwhile, the police move to grant station bail to Rohit for such a grave crime is also raising eyebrows.
