KANNUR: CPM district secretary M V Jayarajan came forward supporting former district panchayat president P P Divya in connection with the death of ADM Naveen Babu. M V Jayarajan alleged that Naveen's family is saying that P P Divya has not committed any crime through the petition seeking a CBI probe in the case. The petitioners' argument is that she was killed and hanged. That means the allegation against Divya will not exist. The police are doing their job well. Jayarajan also said that we do not know the truth on whether Naveen Babu has accepted a bribe.
Meantime, Divya, the accused in the case, had been granted relaxations in her bail conditions from yesterday. The relaxations said there is no restriction on her leaving Kannur and that she can attend district panchayat meetings. The order was made on an application filed in the Thalassery Sessions Court. The condition of appearing before the investigating officer on Mondays has also been relaxed. She only needs to appear when asked. Divya, named accused in the case in the suicide of Kannur ADM Naveen Babu, was later granted bail.
Naveen Babu was found hanging in his quarters the day after P P Divya levelled corruption allegations at his farewell function. The allegations were related to granting permission for a petrol pump in Chengalai. Following this, a case was filed against Divya on charges of abetment to suicide. After her anticipatory bail application was rejected, Divya surrendered and was remanded and later released on bail. Naveen Babu's family alleged that he was murdered. Naveen's family also demanded a CBI probe into the case.
