Vizhinjam dream becoming reality; port trial run on 12th

vizhinjam-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala's big development dream is coming true. As an announcement of this, the San Fernando mothership will arrive at Vizhinjam on the 12th. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will receive the Mothership at 10 am on Friday. Minister VN Vasavan said in a press conference that the trial run of the port will begin on the same day.

Vizhinjam, India's first semi-automated port, will be commissioned in September-October. Vizhinjam, which is being implemented through a government-private partnership, is the largest-ever investment in Kerala. Vizhinjam will mainly deal with transshipment containers.

The 2,000 containers of San Fernando that left Xiamen, China will be unloaded at Vizhinjam. 400 containers will be transported in two small ships. The trial will continue for two to three months. A massive 400-meter-long container ship will arrive within weeks.

Minister Vasavan will preside over the function. Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will be the Chief Guest. Ministers K Rajan, KN Balagopal, V Sivankutty, Saji Cherian, GR Anil, Shashi Tharoor MP, Mayor Arya Rajendran, M Vincent MLA, Adani Port CEO Karan Adani and others will be present.

Motherships will deliver; Containers will be loaded on small ships

With the commissioning, the world's leading shipping companies will come with their cargo. Hundreds of containers unloaded by motherships are transported by smaller ships to neighbouring countries and various ports of the country.
