KALPETTA: The motor vehicle department has registered a case against the owner of the vehicle in the case of Akash Thillankeri, the first accused in the Shuhaib murder case of Kannur, driving a vehicle in violation of traffic rules. The vehicle will be taken into custody today. Enforcement RTO KR Suresh registered the case. The vehicle is owned by Sulaiman of Malappuram district.
Akash Tillankeri and his companions travelled through Panamaram town without wearing seat belts in the modified vehicle without a number plate. Akash's associates had posted a video of this with mass BGM on social media. Even hours after the incident came to light, the Motor Vehicle Department was not ready to file a case. The Division Bench of the High Court strongly criticized this. The High Court had directed that the motor vehicle department should file a case on its own. A case was registered against the owner after this. The action was taken based on the complaint made by Youth Congress Kannur District Vice President Farzeen Majeed to Wayanad RTO.
Malappuram RTO had imposed a fine of Rs 25000 on the same vehicle last year for violating the law. Youth Congress activists blockaded Mananthavadi Joint RTO office demanding action against Akash Thillankeri.
