Westerly winds gain strength, Kerala to receive rain for five days

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Due to the influence of low pressure from north Kerala to Maharashtra coast, cyclone near the Andhra Pradesh coast and over the central west Bay of Bengal, and westerly winds gaining strength, rains will continue in Kerala for 5 days in Kerala. Heavy rain is likely in the central and north districts. Central and southern districts will also receive rain. Orange alert has been sounded in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod and yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Wayanad on Sunday.

High wave on Kerala coast

The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services has informed that there is a possibility of high waves and storm surge along the coast of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas should exercise caution.
