KANNUR: Owing to heavy rain, the Kuwait - Kannur flight was diverted to Cochin airport. The plane made several attempts to land after reaching Kannur, but could not because the visibility of the runway was blurred due to rain and snow.

The plane was then diverted to Kochi, after which, the airline representatives said that the flight would return with the passengers when the weather becomes favourable in Kannur. Various flight services were also delayed due to heavy rain.

Yellow alert in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha. However, no red alert (extreme rain) has been issued in any district.
