THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Torrential rains continue to wreak havoc in northern districts of Kerala. The weather department has warned that heavy rains will continue for two more days. Kannur and Wayanad districts are experiencing extremely heavy rainfall. Central Kerala also received heavy rain on Thursday. 11 houses were completely destroyed and 323 houses were partially destroyed in the state. 1473 people of 452 families have been relocated to 62 relief camps across the state.

Several rivers overflowed in Kannur district. All the low-lying areas were submerged in water due to landslides in the Karnataka forest region. Chappathu bridge, Vattyamthodu and Vayathur bridges in Manikkadavu were submerged in water.

In Cherupuzha, a wooden bridge collapsed due to heavy mudslides. The stranded families were relocated to relatives' homes. The fire force team from Peringome rescued people, including a newborn baby, after rebuilding the bridge. The massive wall of the Ancharkandi Juma Masjid collapsed in the rain. A disaster was averted as the students standing near the wall ran and moved to safety.
