Strict action will be taken against those who dump garbage on road and water bodies; registration of vehicles will be cancelled

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A high-level meeting presided over by the Chief Minister resolved to take strong action against those who dump waste on public roadways and water bodies. Vehicles that dump waste on public highways and water bodies will have their registrations cancelled. Strict action will be taken against those using banned plastic carry bags and products. The meeting was held in connection with the garbage problem in the Amayizhanchan canal in Thiruvananthapuram.

The provisions of the Disaster Management Act will be used for the supervision and smooth running of the activities to solve the garbage problem in Thiruvananthapuram city. The meeting decided to assign the Sub-Collector as a special officer to coordinate the activities under the supervision of the District Collector. Coordination of Major Irrigation, Corporation and Railways will be ensured.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan congratulated all those who bravely participated in the Amayizhanchan rescue mission, especially the scuba team. The Chief Minister stated that garbage disposal is crucial in preventing communicable diseases. Ministers of concerned departments, MLAs and the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram attended the meeting which was held online. Senior officials, including the Chief Secretary and Railway Divisional Manager, also participated in the meeting.
