KSEB in another controversy; another family asked to withdraw complaint for restoring electricity connection; police registers case against linemen

VARKALA: After the householder filed a complaint with the police against the KSEB staff who came to check the electricity meter caught fire in Ayiroor, the family was left in the dark without restoring the electricity connection. According to the family, the KSEB authorities have asked them to withdraw the complaint if the connection is to be restored. KSEB has also filed a complaint with the Ayiroor police alleging that their work was disrupted and Rajeev used abusive language.

The fire broke out from the electric meter in the house of Ayiroor native Rajeev around 11 pm on Saturday. Rajeev came out with his family after the neighbor called him on the phone. Kedakulam Electricity office was informed but no one came. When contacted again, Rajeev was told to call the fire department. Half an hour later two linemen arrived. According to Rajeev's complaint, they did something under the influence of alcohol without even taking safety precautions.

They abused the head of the house who asked them to find out the cause of the fire. Rajeev informed Ayiroor police after this.

Case was filed against employees

The electricity connection was disconnected after the police arrived. Rajeev said that an accident was averted due to the intervention of the police. The employees were taken into custody and subjected to medical examination and a case was registered. The connection was not restored even after contacting the Assistant Executive Engineer. There are 7 people in the house including sons, granddaughter and wife. Adv Joy MLA responded that the officers were instructed to provide a connection and if they did not comply, action would have to be taken.
