Four falls into Chalakudy River; train hits one, says loco pilot

THRISSUR: It is reported that four people have fallen into the Chalakudy river. It is suspected that people walking across the railway bridge fell into the river. The loco pilot informed the police that one fell into the river after being hit by a train and three others jumped into the river.

Based on the statement of the loco pilot, a search has been started in the river. It is reported that the search conducted by the police and fire force could not find anyone.

The incident happened Monday morning at 1 am. The police said that there was an argument between some people last night regarding the exchange of gold near the Chalakudy railway station. Four of them fled to the side of the river. At this time, a train coming from Chennai to Thiruvananthapuram hit one of them and he fell into the river. Shortly three others jumped into the river. The loco pilot informed the police about this. It is also reported that the loco pilot is not clear whether they jumped into the river.

No information is available as to who jumped into the river. According to the police, a detailed investigation is being conducted based on the statement of the loco pilot. No missing cases have been reported in the area. If there are missing people, it is shared on social media groups including the municipality.
