Man charred to death as running car catches fire in Kumily

IDUKKI: In a shocking incident, a man was charred to death after a running car caught fire in Kumily. The incident took place at around 8.30 pm near 66th Mile in Kumily. The deceased person is yet to be identified. The charred body of the deceased person was found inside the car only when the fire force reached the spot and doused off the fire. The body has been shifted to the Peerumedu Taluk Hospital.

Smoke started rising from the car while the car was coming down the slope near 66th Mile. Seeing this, a bike rider, who was coming behind the car, overtook the car and asked the driver to get out of the vehicle. However, the fire spread to various parts of the car within no time, making it impossible for the driver to get out of it. The driver soon lost control of the car and the vehicle rammed a motorbike parked on the roadside. The car was completely destroyed in the fire.
