Holiday declared for educational institutions in 12 districts on Wednesday; heavy rain to continue for next three days

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A holiday has been declared for all educational institutions, including professional colleges, in 12 districts of Kerala on Wednesday in view of the heavy rains forecast issued for these districts. Districts Collectors have announced that all educational institutions in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts will remain closed tomorrow.

However, there will not be any change in the exams scheduled earlier, informed various district administrations. Meanwhile, PSC announced that all the exams scheduled to be held from tomorrow till August 2 have been postponed. Revised dates will be notified later.

A red alert has been issued in districts from Idukki to Kasargod. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that isolated places in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod are likely to receive moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds of up to a speed of up to 40 km per hour in the next three hours.
